Colour scheme for my magazine

After looking at many different magazines, it became apparent that most of them use 3 main colours throughout.

I chose to use gold because not only is it very attractive to look at, but we associate it with expensive things such as designer jewellery. My magazine has a strong fashion element to it, I wanted to make this as obvious as possible. Also, by using a colour which is associated with expensive things, the magazine looks like more of a high end magazine.

I chose to use purple because it is a fun colour. It is also a colour that we would associate more with females than men. Although my magazine could appeal to either gender, my target audience are mostly female. I wanted to make this clear to people who come across my magazine for the first time.

I chose to use black because it is the easiest colour to read clearly against most backgrounds. Also it has a sort of sophistication about it that could be associated with high end fashion.
